Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Dermatology Residency Program at Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. This program is dedicated to provide educational and practical experiences that result in delivery of superior specialized care to patients with diseases of the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes.
The Carilion Clinic Dermatology Residency Program received initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) on July 1, 2014 with our first resident starting on July 1, 2014 with a complement of 3 residents; three residents meaning 1 resident at each PGY level over the 3-year training.
The clinical experience in this residency program will include consultations, inpatient rounds, dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, and other dermatology-related subspecialty experiences. To include significant exposure to other procedures, either through direct observation or as an assistant in Mohs micrographic surgery, and reconstruction of these defects.
