What’s new since you had your baby?  Join in this fun two-hour class and get a head start on being the best grandparent for your newest family addition.  Topics include an overview of current recommendations for infant care, safety measures, how to support the new parents and many more.  This class is offered quarterly and is taught by an experienced educator who is also a grandmother.

Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Course

The purpose of this conference is to instruct RNs and other interested individuals in care of the forensic patient in regard to recognition, history-taking, assessment, documentation and preparation for courtroom testimony. 

This conference is intended for RNs interested in the specialty of forensic nursing, nurses who have completed the SANE and PEDS SANE courses and desire to further enhance their knowledge in other forensic related topics, law enforcement officers, attorneys, physicians, rape crisis counselors, EMS providers and other health care professionals with an interest in forensic related issues.

Newborn Care

This is as close as you'll come to a baby owner's manual.  A qualified teacher covers the basics of caring for a newborn by addressing such topics as bathing, getting the baby to sleep, understanding baby's cry, diapering, dressing, temperature taking, feeding a newborn, home and car safety, and more.  This class offers expectant parents the opportunity to practice taking care of baby's basic needs.  Plan to attend this one-evening class in your second or third trimester.

Breastfeeding 101

Breastfeeding is a learned behavior for both mom and baby.  During this class, a certified lactation consultant provides the information you need to decide if breastfeeding is the right choice for you and your new baby.  If you have already decided to breastfeed, this class will provide basic instructions on breastfeeding techniques and benefits.  Other breastfeeding topics will also be discussed.

Introducing Your Four Legged Baby To Your New Baby

Low Intervention Childbirth Education

This course provides the same class topics as our Prepared Childbirth course, but has an increased emphasis on labor coping and support techniques, with a reduced emphasis on the use of pain medication in labor.  Plan to attend this class in the beginning of your third trimester.

Prepared Childbirth Education

You and your support partner are provided with the information and skills needed to approach labor and birth fully prepared.  This six-week series addresses topics such as breathing and relaxation techniques, the labor partner's role, variations of labor, the labor and birth process, adjustment to parenthood, and many other details of labor and birth.  Plan to attend this class in the beginning of your third trimester.  Taught by a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE).

Infant CPR/Safety

Learn about the basics of infant CPR in this educational class.  The class offers hands-on training and experience in infant CPR, but is not a certification class.  You will also learn how to keep your home safe for your child.  There are many hidden dangers in the home that can injure or kill a child.  This class will give you tips on what you can do to avoid these unnecessary incidents.

Weekend Childbirth Education
