Additional Resources for Advance Care Planning

The Virginia State Bar website offers resources to help Virginia residents plan ahead for health care decisions related to end-of-life care and medical decision-making. Also, the Virginia Department of Health offers a secure registry for Virginia residents to store their Advanced Health Care Directive, Health Care Power of Attorney, Declaration of Anatomical Gift, and other documents so that medical providers, emergency responders, family members, and anyone else they grant access will honor their wishes.

Carilion Clinic Community Herb and Vegetable Garden Planting

Come and join us for a hands-on and get dirty planting on May 16th, supported with on going management, harvesting, and cooking of the herbs and vegetables as they're ready.  We will be providing a short presentation on the garden plans and health benefits of the vegetation we will be working with.  Then we'll play in the dirt.

In the Wake of Suicide

Please join the second in a series of Community Conversations presented by the Community Grief and Loss Center. Family Service of Roanoke Valley and Carilion Clinic Hospice offer a chance to listen and be heard. Learn why talking about suicide may help you or someone else deal with their loss, and could be a good first step toward preventing suicide. Talking to teens and young people is especially challenging and important. Join fellow survivors of suicide, community members and mental health care providers to begin breaking the silence on suicide.
