End of Life: A Community Conversation

Are you looking for a way to start the conversation? We’ll help you prepare. Please join us for a community event presented in partnership by Carilion Clinic Hospice and Good Samaritan Hospice.

Karen McNew of WSLS will moderate a panel discussion around end-of-life issues. The panel will share viewpoints from healthcare providers, clergy, caregivers, and attorneys. Topics that will be covered range from a full explanation of hospice and palliative care to discussing final arrangements for your family or yourself. Breakout sessions with each of the panelists will follow the moderated discussion.

Admission is free and light snacks and beverages will be provided. Hospice representatives from Carilion Clinic and Good Samaritan will be available in the lobby during the reception.

Cooking In Season

Cooking with seasonal ingredients, straight from the garden or the farmer's market, is becoming increasingly popular for many reasons.  Some of those reasons include economic, health and environmental.  In addition, ingredients harvested during their peak season, allow their natural flavors to shine.  Attend this class to learn how to cook in season.

Leg Pain and Varicose Veins

Signs of serious leg problems are sometimes just skin deep, at other times they may run deeper.   Ashish Raju, M.D., vascular surgeon in the New River Valley, will show how varicose veins and other vein issues are treated and how leg pain needs in depth evaluation.
