Smooth Sailing 16th Annual Card Party and Luncheon

Carilion Clinic Hospice, the Volunteer Council of Franklin County, and the Williard Companies present the 16th Annual Smooth Sailing Card Party and Luncheon.  Proceeds directly benefit terminally ill patients being treated by Carilion Clinic Hospice in Franklin County through the Patient Care Fund, which provides medication, oxygen, food, medical supplies, phone services, and clothing.

Colon Health and Colon Cancer Screening Presentation

Camp Too Sweet

JUNE 16 - 20, 2014 (AGES 8 - 16)

Camp Too Sweet is a five-day, four-night, traditional camp for children and teens living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The week is filled iwth fun and adventure, while helping children accept diabetes as a part of daily living.

Great counselors, supported by licensed health professionals, provide an unforgettable week filled with group games, nature, crafts, music and singing, campfires, swimming, low-ropes group challenges, creek exploration, hiking trails, polar bear swims, night activities, and educational sessions on diabetes care. Plus, campers who are junior high age and older get a chance to experience the high-ropes course! All campers will enjoy a day of adventure tubing on the James River (see tubing description).

The medical team monitors campers’ diabetes care 24 hours a day, and the camp provides delicious and healthy meals and daily snacks. Camp Too Sweet is a memorable week of fun, adventure, and healthy living. The children are sure to develop lasting friendships.

River Tubing Description

It’s the best new way to beat the summer heat! Campers will enjoy a fun and relaxing day of river tubing on the beautiful and historic James River, just six miles from Camp Bethel. Let the river do the work as we ride the gentle current through gorgeous scenery over riffles and mini-rapids while keeping cool — splashing, swimming, and playing. Get creative with your float style or team up with your counselors and new friends to build an ultimate tube-blob-flotilla!

All tubes, personal flotation devices, and leadership included.

Rated: easy.

Cost: $380 per camper

Cost includes a $25 non-refundable application fee due at time of registration. Space is limited and financial assistance is available to qualified applicants.
